Emerging Monitoring Technologies for the Downstream Fenceline and Beyond

On November 2, 2016, Geosyntec will host a full-day PERF workshop entitled “Emerging Monitoring Technologies for the Downstream Fenceline and Beyond” at the Marriott West Loop in Houston by The Galleria.

Topics will include technologies for measuring methane, hazardous air pollutants, volatile organic compounds, and hydrogen sulfide at a variety of different spatial and temporal scales. Covered approaches include supplemental monitoring for emerging EPA Method 325A/B requirements, open-path systems, inexpensive sensor technologies, and quantitative leak imaging.

On May 4th and 5th 2016, Chevron hosted the Spring PERF Meeting in London, UK. The general theme of the meeting was “From Strategy to Action : What New Air Emissions Policies Mean for Oil & Gas Industry”. The main topic covered was the recent Paris Climate Conference (COP21) and its consequences on the O&G industry, with a discussion organized around IPIECA’s “Five Pieces of the Paris Puzzle”. The objective was also to analyze how EU BREFs and Directives, compared with the US Refinery Sector Rule, will influence activities. Finally, the Circular Economy was treated.
Over 50 engineers and scientists attended the meeting.

Location: Montreal, Canada

On November 17th and 18th 2015, Total hosted with CIRAIG (International Reference Center for the Life Cycle of Products, Processes and Services) a PERF workshop focusing on Life Cycle Analysis approach applied to the Oil & Gas industry.
Around 20 people participated in this workshop in Montreal which provided a good place for exchange about potential environmental benefits from this approach. A total of 18 presentations were given over the 2 day meeting.
There was positive interaction between attendees favorable to discussions of potential future PERF project areas.
